I’m putting this question to you, because to me – in all honesty – I can’t tell the difference.
Bleached, unbleached, or gold-plated permanent … none of them ever seemed to make my coffee taste any better or worse.
I think, personally, it’s all up to personal preference. I have friends who swear up and down that the gold-plated reusable filters make a big difference, as they say that they can taste the paper. I think it’s in their heads, planted there by clever marketing.
Personally I don’t like the reusable filters because it defeats the purpose of using a cone filter. If I have to wash grounds out of a coffee making device, then I’m going to use a French press. The only reason I use a drip filter instead is because it’s more convenient and far less mess.
